Audrey Lanoux grew up in the northeast of France where she started ballet at the age of three. In her teenage years she learnt jazz and modern dance. She participated in many competitions and dance shows with local dance schools. In 2012, she defended her thesis of research in astrophysics and earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Université de Toulouse.
In 2013, Audrey moved to the UK and had the opportunity to train with professional dancers from 3rd Stage Dance Company. As one of the former members of the 3Motion performance group, she performed on numerous occasions in Bristol and Bath. She was also involved in several shows with Bristol Opera. While in England, she discovered the Graham dance technique thanks to Herbert DesLauriers and fell in love with it.
After moving to Canada in 2020, she started a more extensive study of Graham technique through intensive classes and workshops with the Martha Graham school of Contemporary Dance. In July 2023, she became a certified Graham technique teacher by completing a Graham Technique Teacher Training Course at M-Intensive University. She then decided to continue studying at MIU and earned a Horton Technique Teacher Certification in April 2025.
Audrey currently runs Graham technique, Horton technique and modern/contemporary dance workshops and classes in the Ottawa-Gatineau area, in English and in French. She works with teenage and adult dancers, as well as theatre students. She is a private teacher at Centre d’Excellence Artistique de l’Ontario, a guest artist at Académie des Arts de Béatrice-Desloges and a modern/contemporary dance teacher at École de ballet Adagio. She has also taught for Ottawa Dance Directive, Union Studios and Ottawa Dance Centre School. She has as well the privilege to be part of the Voices Dance Project company, for which she choreographs and also performs other choreographers’ work. Moreover, she is involved in screendance projects with local filmmaker Chelsey Fawcett; their latest production was in competition at the 2022 Digi60 filmmakers’ festival. Additionally, she works as a life drawing model for secondary school students in visual arts programs; the schools she works with include École secondaire catholique Béatrice-Desloges, Elmwood school and Blyth Academy the Glebe.
